EENE AI Summit
March 23, 2026
As all economics educators are well aware, AI is changing what happens on college campuses. Students are using it as a 24/7 tutor and getting instant feedback on their work, but some students are also using it to bypass the productive struggle that learning requires. Whether we’re ready or not, and this is a pivotal moment for our field to shape how it’s used rather than simply react.
EENE is planning to field one or two studies this fall that evaluate potential pedagogical approches that amplify positive uses of AI while minimizing negative behavior. To this end, we held an EENE AI summit last week with about 30 members presenting and/or discussing promising ideas for AI-related projects. We are now refining these ideas for presentation and more development at our upcoming Annual Meeting at the end of May.
Want to get involved to help with a project or potentially field something in your classroom in the Fall? The first step is to join EENE!
